Sharie - this is so funny that I came here today from another link just wondering if you were posting again. I saw the football championships post and thought to myself, "No, still not posting" then realized it was a new post! So congrats to the boys - that is very exciting and I hope they do well in the big game. My oldest was on a state championship baseball team when he was a junior. It is very exciting for the whole family, isn't it!

Where did you find the large World Map on the wall? Is it laminated? I've been looking for a map just like it.

Thanks!

You are right, there is certainly a spirit eminating from that picture. St. Therese is one of my favorites, and I loved how you used her quote to renmind us of where we need to be: in the "Presence"!

BTW- I really enjoyed your fence story too! Ahh, greenhorns! LOL

It is a wonderful place to raise kids - so much freedom for them - but it is a lot of work for not much pay. So few young people are choosing to stay on the family ranches because they just can't make a decent living. By the grace of God, we are one of the few families I know who are still trying to make it on just the ranch income. Most women and many of the men have taken outside jobs to help support the ranch! Anyway, glad you are enjoying the blog.

I'm already missing home and this brought it more to life. What an awesome thing to have those trails on your land. Have you ever thought of writing a book about the life of a rancher's wife and how life really is in WY? It would be a treasure, like the Laura Ingalls Wilder of the next generations. Ranchers are few and far between and many people really have no idea how rugged one has to be to exist there let alone succeed.

DH just got back from a trip to MT to visit family, and HE got to get his fix of mountains and the land, but alas it's been 4 years for me since we've "been in the area". Maybe next summer we'll have to roadtrip out there (if I am feeling crazy enough to do that with the boys. It'd be one heck of a field trip! They're embarassingly urban!

We just bought our first horse last month - a solid Palimino colored APHA Paint. There are no horse people in our family - going back several generations - so we aren't sure where the equine gene in our daughter came from.

Sharie

Thank you soo much for your wonderful description. Yep, that was my conception of a ranch but just wanted to be sure. You certainly have a very large ranch. I am bowled over by the sense of history you have. What a wonderful legacy, I am always so sad to hear when properties aren't able to be handed down to the next generation. So pleased to see you hanging on. What a wonderful place to live.
